Good. How SIAAC SA Turns Challenges Into Innovation

Jocko Willink, in his famous interview titled “Good,” explains that every problem should be met with that one word: Good.

Did the project get delayed? Good. More time to prepare.
Did you run into a technical challenge? Good. An opportunity to innovate.
Did something not go according to plan? Good. Now we can find a better way.

At SIAAC SA, we live by this mindset. Every challenge presents an opportunity to improve, adapt, and drive innovation. Without problems, there would be no need for better solutions. And that philosophy was put to the test when we tackled one of our most complex installations—deep inside Kruger National Park.

The Challenge: A 1.2km Barrier and No Trenches Allowed

One of our EPC partners had a grid-tied Sigenergy installation in Kruger National Park. The system required export control, meaning it needed to be physically connected to its power sensor at the transformer—1.2km away.

Normally, this wouldn’t be an issue; you just run a cable.

But not here.

Strict environmental regulations prohibited trenching, digging, or bringing in heavy equipment outside of the designated site. That meant our only option was to go wireless—but we had to ensure it would work reliably over the long distance with minimal latency.

“Good.” Time to Innovate.

When our EPC partner presented the problem, we didn’t panic. We said, “Good.”

We got to work testing four different wireless communication solutions over the course of a month. Each one was evaluated for:

✔ Range & Signal Stability – Could it maintain a solid connection over 1.2km?
✔ Latency & Responsiveness – Would it react fast enough for real-time power control?
✔ Environmental Suitability – Could it withstand the extreme conditions of the Kruger?

After extensive testing, troubleshooting, and iteration, we found the ideal solution. But we weren’t done yet.

Execution: No Excuses, Just Action

With a working solution in hand, we didn’t just send instructions—we flew to Johannesburg, drove six hours to Kruger National Park, and personally assisted in the installation and commissioning of the system.

The result? A fully functional wireless export-limiting solution, deployed without breaking a single environmental regulation, ensuring that the Sigenergy system performed flawlessly.

Why This Matters

This project represents what SIAAC SA is all about:

🔹 Problem? Good. We embrace challenges and engineer solutions.
🔹 Commitment to Innovation. We don’t take shortcuts—we test, refine, and deliver.
🔹 Partnership & Execution. We don’t just provide products; we show up and get the job done.

Innovation doesn’t happen without problems. It happens because of them.

So next time you face a challenge, remember Jocko’s words: “Good.” Now let’s find a way to solve it.
