40 Homes. One Community. A Legacy of Lasting Impact.

SIAAC Group and SolarSaver Khomas support renewable energy integration at Namibia’s Ju/’hoansi Eco-Village

Epukiro, Namibia | October 2026
On 9 October 2026, the N/a’an ku sê Foundation officially inaugurated the Ju/’hoansi Eco-Village in Epukiro, in Namibia’s Omaheke Region, marking a significant milestone in sustainable community development.

The inauguration, attended by Namibia’s Vice President, Her Excellency Lucia Witbooi, celebrated the completion of 40 homes for members of the indigenous San community. Beyond housing, the initiative brings together renewable energy, water management, food security and economic development to support a more sustainable and resilient future.

For SIAAC Group, the project represents more than the integration of renewable energy technology. It demonstrates what becomes possible when strong partnerships connect technical expertise and infrastructure with the needs of communities.

A Milestone for A community development initiative built for the future!
The N/a’an ku sê Foundation has worked alongside communities in the Epukiro region for more than two decades, supporting initiatives focused on healthcare, education, conservation and sustainable livelihoods.

The Ju/’hoansi Eco-Village builds on this longstanding commitment.

Developed in collaboration with the Epukiro San Development Committee, the project provides 40 homes as part of a broader development approach that recognises the importance of essential infrastructure, access to resources and opportunities for economic participation.

Renewable energy forms part of this integrated approach, supporting the development of infrastructure intended to serve the community over the long term.

The Eco-Village is therefore not simply a housing development. It represents a coordinated investment in the community’s future, bringing together organisations, technical partners and contributors around a shared objective.

The partnerships behind the impact
SIAAC Group’s involvement in the initiative was made possible through its longstanding partnership with SolarSaver Khomas.

Derek MacKinnon, together with SolarSaver Khomas executives Owen Sivertsen and Jason Sivertsen and the wider SolarSaver team, brought the opportunity to SIAAC, recognising the potential for the two organisations to contribute their combined expertise to the development.

SolarSaver Khomas played a central role as the renewable energy implementation partner, with SIAAC Group contributing renewable energy technology and integration support.

For SIAAC, the significance of this partnership extends beyond the commercial relationship.

Working alongside organisations such as SolarSaver creates opportunities to apply technology and technical expertise where they can deliver meaningful benefits to people and communities.

It reinforces an important principle: the value of renewable energy is not measured only by the technology installed, but also by the purpose that infrastructure serves.

Integrating renewable energy into sustainable infrastructure
Reliable energy infrastructure is an important component of sustainable community development.

Within the Epukiro Eco-Village, renewable energy forms part of a broader infrastructure strategy that incorporates housing, water management, food security and community development.

Through its collaboration with SolarSaver Khomas, SIAAC Group supported the integration of renewable energy technology into the development.

The project demonstrates the importance of approaching energy infrastructure as part of an interconnected system rather than an isolated installation.

When renewable energy is considered alongside other essential infrastructure, it can contribute to solutions designed around the long-term requirements of the communities they serve.

This integrated approach reflects SIAAC Group’s commitment to bringing together technology, expertise and partnerships to support practical, sustainable outcomes.

A milestone recognised at national level

The official inauguration on 9 October 2026 brought together government representatives, project contributors, development partners and members of the Epukiro community.

Namibia’s Vice President, Her Excellency Lucia Witbooi, attended the occasion, highlighting the national significance of the development and the importance of initiatives supporting historically marginalised communities.

Sébastien and Isabelle Feit represented SIAAC Group at the inauguration, joining Derek MacKinnon of SolarSaver Khomas and the wider group of stakeholders in recognising the achievement.

The occasion marked the culmination of considerable collaboration, investment and commitment from the N/a’an ku sê Foundation, the Epukiro San Development Committee, project partners and donors.

More importantly, it marked the beginning of a new chapter for the community.

Beyond energy: Creating a lasting legacy

For SIAAC Group, participating in the Epukiro Eco-Village initiative reinforces the importance of partnerships built on shared values and a commitment to meaningful outcomes.

The opportunity introduced by Derek MacKinnon and the SolarSaver Khomas team demonstrates how established industry relationships can extend beyond conventional business activities.

By connecting organisations with complementary capabilities, these partnerships create opportunities to contribute to developments that have a direct and lasting impact on communities.

The Epukiro Eco-Village is a powerful example of this collective approach.

Its significance lies not only in the completion of 40 homes or the integration of renewable energy, but in the broader vision of sustainable development that brings these elements together.

SIAAC Group extends its sincere appreciation to the N/a’an ku sê Foundation, the Epukiro San Development Committee, Derek MacKinnon, Owen Sivertsen, Jason Sivertsen and the entire SolarSaver Khomas team, together with every donor, partner and individual who contributed to bringing this development to life.

Because beyond renewable energy, lasting impact is built through people, partnerships and a shared commitment to the future.
